* Brazil registered a trade surplus of US$5.2bn in September, posting a positive balance for the eighth consecutive month in a row, according to Brazil’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services (MDIC). In the nine months up until September, the cumulative trade balance was US$53.3bn, which is the best result since records began in 1989. The positive trade balance resulted from US$164bn in exports (up 18.9% from the same time period in 2016) and US$111.3bn in imports (up 8.5% from 2016).
