In brief: Colombia

Colombia: The European Union (EU) has announced that on 4 October it will sign collaboration agreements on competitivity with business leaders in the Colombian city of Barranquilla. The initiative is part of a project financed by the EU’s AL-INVEST programme. AL-INVEST is considered to be one of the most important cooperation programmes from the European Commission in Latin America. It seeks to promote productivity in thousands of micro, small, and medium-size companies (MSMEs) in Latin America. The aim of the project, which will have funding of Col$1.27bn (some US$430,000), is to help improve the competitiveness of MSMEs in four strategic “clusters” in Barranquilla city.
